China Career Treks And Program Update
China Career Treks And Program Update
The full-time MBA China Club, with the MBA Career and Professional Development (CPD) team, hosted a Shenzhen Trek in September and a Shanghai Trek in December of last year.
The Shenzhen visit focused on technology and entrepreneurial companies, including Huawei, Tencent, and UBTECH, a leading global AI and robotic startup based in Shenzhen. On this visit, 25 students enjoyed the opportunity to experience high-tech products and learn about potential career prospects. Afterwards, with Shenzhen just across the border, many students continued to leverage the connections that they made with our alumni during the trek.
The Shanghai visit was a two-part trip, with the first part focusing on a myriad of companies representing finance, consulting, multi-nationals, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs). The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Shanghai Stock Exchange where students envisioned listing an IPO. Also, 19 students visited companies such as Honeywell, TF Securities, Dupont, ZO fund, Bain, New Margin, and HuaAn Fund. The second part of the trip was a visit to Fosun International Limited, a family-focused multinational company founded in 1992, where students completed a Fosun Careers Discovery Day, riding on the multifaceted relationship between HKUST’s MBA program and the company. During this trip there were also multiple opportunities for networking with our alumni and fellow MBA students at Shanghai Jiatong University.
These two high-quality career treks brought great insight, connected our students with the community, and helped enhance HKUST’s presence in greater China. We offer a sincere thank you to the CPD team and the China Club committee for their effort and commitment.
