MESSAGE FROM MBA PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Professor Tai-Yuan Chen

Dear all,

In light of the recent situation in Hong Kong, we have been taking active measures to ensure the continuity of studies and most importantly, the safety of our students.

Campus security has been significantly tightened for as long as required. For students who have difficulty getting to campus, we offer the alternative to join virtual classes in addition to face-to-face sessions. We will continue to arrange professional workshops and career activities as planned. In case of potential disruptions in public transportation, they will be rescheduled or moved online for the sake of individual safety.

Our team has been working non-stop in the past several weeks to provide all-round support to students and rearrange the classes so that we can maintain the same impact of teaching and learning excellence. We are very grateful for the understanding of our students and support from the MBA community and will commit our best efforts to offering a world class education despite these trying times.

On a separate note, I would like to share with you some encouraging news amid recent challenges. Our Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program has just been ranked no. 2 worldwide in the Financial Times Global EMBA Ranking 2019 released earlier this month—a remarkable feat given the increased global competition.

As for the MBA program, we are committed as ever to improving the quality and value of our education. To better prepare our students for today and tomorrow’s biggest business challenges, we have introduced a Python accelerator workshop and new courses like “Global Implications of FinTech Innovations” and “IoT Management Strategy”. We are proud to be the leading educator in Asia to incorporate these emerging elements of business technology in our core MBA curriculum. The revamped curriculum, which will be launched in intake 2020, will also offer a greater level of flexibility for students to customize their studies and choose courses that best fit their career aspirations.

To connect our MBA students with business practitioners and potential recruiters, both Singapore and Shanghai Career Treks were organised in October this year. We are also poised to launch the second phase of the MBA Mentorship Program 2019 so as to provide a platform for alumni and students to engage in a mutually beneficial relationship and build stronger bonds.
