MESSAGE FROM PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Shaping Digital-Savvy Business Leaders
In this era of virtual education, learning is no longer confined within the walls of a traditional classroom.
As a leading business school, we were thus delighted to launch Asia’s first virtual classroom in August, with the opening ceremony covered by the local media and featured in news stories.
The state-of-the-art virtual classroom, offering interactive learning directly comparable to that in a physical classroom, will host HKUST’s first batch of Digital MBA (DiMBA), starting in February 2022.
The highly encouraging response to the DiMBA is an indication that the program’s vision has tapped into a growing need among those seeking to advance their careers.
Prospective DiMBA students come from a wide range of backgrounds and locations, are highly experienced in their respective fields with much to share, and have been attracted by the DiMBA’s flexibility, especially given the limits on travel during the pandemic.
It has also been a busy few months in other online-related activities that have successfully brought the MBA community together.
The MBA Office leveraged ties with the business community to organize a series of productive virtual sessions featuring senior executives from trending businesses in discussion with alumni and students. Companies included Landsea Group, a pioneering green property developer in China and the US; “yuu” Rewards, a highly popular digital loyalty program in HKSAR; and ZA Bank, a leading digital bank.
In addition, HKUST MBA senior alumni shared their experience and views in several virtual alumni events.
As we stride forward into a new academic year, we will seek to deliver more innovative virtual education and enrichment activities to the MBA community.
