HKUST MBA SUNDIAL

INTERNATIONAL HORIZONS
Finding Jobs Globally Amid COVID-19

How has COVID-19 impacted global job markets? What are the best roles for MBA students and alumni to explore? When is it a good time to change jobs in today’s challenging job market?

To assist MBA participants aspiring to make their next career moves at this unprecedented time, we tapped into our extensive international alumni network to find some answers through a series of sharing sessions with alumni executives, focused on the job markets of Vietnam, Japan, the Middle East, and the Greater Bay Area.

Special thanks to all our alumni speakers for contributing their knowledge, experience, down-to-earth advice, and tips, which helped many webinar participants gain a deeper understanding of employment prospects in different parts of the world.

For those unable to tune in for the live events, we are building up a knowledge archive on HKUST MBA Virtual Alumni Hub, with summaries capturing the key takeaways of each webinar. Log in to read the webinar recaps here and stay tuned for future updates.

Giovanni and Masayasu share first-hand insights on the fast-growing economy of Vietnam and their own respective journeys from Milan and Tokyo to Ho Chi Minh City. The session covers views from foreign investors, job prospects, emerging sectors seeking talents, and the opportunities they see as expatriates in Vietnam.
Japan is the world’s third largest economy. Jared and Akashi provide expat and local perspectives on talent trends, market outlook, in-demand roles, visas for foreigners, and the value of an MBA in employers’ eyes.
The Middle East has a huge demand for expatriates, offering great job opportunities to professionals from different fields. Tommaso and Faisal offer their perspectives on job prospects in a wide range of sectors, including private banking, investment management, consulting, fast-moving consumer goods, technology and FinTech, professional services, and oil and gas. They also cover the lifestyle of expatriates in the region.
As an expert in executive search and recruitment, Kaling takes a look at career opportunities for MBA holders in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), which is gathering a strong pool of professionals to accelerate its development. Kaling discusses the competitive edge of each city in the GBA, the measures adopted to attract talents, and emerging sectors to watch.
