Recruitment Trip to India – By Chris Yip and Desmond Tam

In early December two of our colleagues, Chris Yip and Desmond Tam, from the career development and MBAP Bi-Weekly Programs team travelled to Mumbai and Delhi to represent the HKUST MBA on the QS World MBA Tour. In each city, they delivered a presentation to introduce the HKUST MBA Program to prospective candidates, followed by manning the HKUST booth at the education fairs. They saw strong interest in the HKUST MBA program. Each presentation drew many attendees and throughout the span of two hours at our booth, people lined up to ask questions. In particular, prospective students were very interested in the program’s new theme ‘HKUST MBA – Where Business Meets Technology’. Many enquired about how the new courses, like Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Blockchain, would operate. They also shared their belief that knowledge of technology is important to future career success.

Chris said:‘With a background in career support, it was a refreshing experience to support the HKUST MBA in admissions events. Interacting with prospective students provided me with completely new perspectives in understanding what an individual cared about when choosing an MBA program. Also, I was happy that my experience in working with employers helped them in their decision process’.

In Mumbai, one of our alumni, Praveen Kumar (Class of 2013) provided amazing support at the fair. He also took Chris and Desmond for a short exciting auto-rickshaw ride navigating through the most crowded city in India. Thank you again, Praveen!.
