CAREER FAIR
Students’ Face-to-Face Gateway to Corporations
March is traditionally a prime job-hunting season for full-time MBA students. First-year students are busy looking for internships, and the graduating batch will seek to land good post-MBA jobs. On 15 March 2019, the MBA Career Development Team hosted the annual MBA Career Fair at Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Wan Chai.

The Career Fair has one simple goal: to function as a platform to connect employers and great talents at HKUST MBA. More than 220 students and alumni participated in the Fair this year, and the companies in attendance grew to 35 from 22 last year.

Among the participating employers were such familiar names as UBS, EY, China Construction Bank (Asia) and S&P Global in the financial services, and consulting firms that favour MBA hiring, such as Infosys Consulting, Prophet and Willis Towers Watson, were also represented. This year, we also had more fast-growing technology firms like JD Digits (data economy solutions subsidiary of JD.com) and MioTech (Top 10 finalist in Google’s first Demo Day in Aug 2018).

To better prepare our MBA students, the Career Development Team collected details on every job opening offered by the employers and shared them with each student in advance. The team also hosted a briefing session that covered company backgrounds and the best ways for students to approach employers.
