MBA CURRICULUM
New Elective Courses

Technology, FinTech, and start-ups are hot topics in the market. This year, the MBA curriculum has been reformed to match the market trends and equip our students with the latest knowledge and skills required in the evolving business world. Several new technology-related elective courses are being introduced this academic year. Students not only benefit from the new curriculum, but alumni can also gain the latest knowledge through the Alumni Audit Program!
Artificial Intelligence

For the first time, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the course provided students with a core set of skills to understand, apply, and interpret AI concepts and technologies in various real-world applications. During the course, students discussed the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how AI technologies were used in a variety of applications, including computer vision, image processing, speech processing, natural language processing, and e-commerce. The course also covered ethical issues related to the design, fairness, and biases of AI systems.
Prof. Brian Mak from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was teaching in one of the classes in the AI course
Deep Learning Business Applications with Python

Python, an interpreted programming language widely used by developers around the world to create various applications, such as websites, machine learning algorithms, and automated task simplification, has become an important skill that business talents should acquire. A new elective, Deep Learning (DL) Business Application, will therefore be offered in Spring 2019 as part of the MBA program. It will be taught by Prof. James Kwok of the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM). This course will introduce the Python programming language to develop DL business applications. Students will be invited to apply their knowledge of current and future DL trends to design DL business applications.

Financial Modeling

Financial Modeling skills are essential for a career in the financial industry. Given its importance, starting in Spring 2019, instead of being offered as a voluntary workshop, Financial Modeling will be offered as an elective course. Taught by Prof. Haifeng You, the objective of the course will be to familiarize students with theories and techniques of equity analysis and investment. This course is designed for students with an interest in equity investment, either personal or professional. It will be particularly useful for students interested in a career in asset management, equity research, private equity, or investment banking.

The course will cover a wide range of topics related to active equity investing, including quantitative stock selection models, portfolio construction methods, portfolio performance evaluation, strategic analysis, financial statement forecasting, and equity valuation.
